CAMPGROUND POLICIES

Somerset Beach Campground & Retreat Center seeks to provide a positive Christian atmosphere to individuals and groups for their retreat and camping activities. Therefore, individuals using the camp's facilities will conduct their activities according to the following summary of guidelines.


  1. Alcoholic beverages, unauthorized drugs marijuana, and fireworks are prohibited. 
  2. Smoking and vaping/e-cigs is restricted to your campsite and is not permitted in any camp buildings or areas of general public use. 
  3. The hours of 11 p.m. - 8 a.m. are designated as QUIET HOURS.  
  4. A vehicle permit is required for all motor vehicles. Licensed motor vehicles and bicycles are allowed on main roadways only. Bicycles are not to be ridden on hiking trails, hills, sidewalks, tennis & basketball courts or after dark. No more than 2 motor vehicles allowed on a site. 
  5. The use of non-licensed motorized vehicles is prohibited at camp, except when such is needed for medical reasons. Permission for use must be approved by the Director.
  6. Pets must be kept on a maximum 10’ leash at all times and are not permitted in buildings, beach areas, picnic and playground areas, petting farm or on hiking trails. Owners are responsible for cleanup and controlling excessive barking.  
  7. Your visitors are welcome between 8 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Visitors are requested to register with the camp office. A visitor fee may be required. 
  8. Campsites shall be occupied by no more than one recreational unit, two tents and eight people. Campers must provide at least 4-foot unobstructed pathway around tents and recreational units. This is a requirement of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
  9. Check-out is 1 p.m. Check-in is 3 p.m. 
  10. Archery, swimming and challenge course activities are permitted only when camp staff are on duty in these areas.
  11. Modest bathing attire is required. Persons wearing two-piece suits (except for young children) or revealing one-piece suits, including spandex, speedo, high or low cut type suits will be asked to wear some type of cover-up or change their suits. 
  12. Minor children must be accompanied by an adult when using the waterfront.

Additional Camping Reminders

Garbage containers are provided in each camping area and near the exit. Please do not leave garbage sitting out. Please do not take firewood from the woods. 10 MPH speed limit for motorized vehicles and bicycles - this is for everyone's safety.

Cabin Policies

Pets, smoking and cooking are not permitted in the cabin. Please report a lost key to the staff in the Welcome Center or Business Office immediately. Please close the windows when the threat of rain is forecasted.
