SUMMER STAFF FAQs

Check out some frequently asked questions about working on the Summer Staff at SBC.

Will it really be my best summer ever?

It definitely could be. Ultimately, it’s up to you and how much you’re willing to invest. The community is the best part of being on the SBC staff. Working alongside other people who love Jesus and want to show His love to others is something that creates deep, lasting friendships and will change your life.

My parents say I need a real job. Does this count?

Listen . . . that’s between you and your parents, but trust us on this: There are few jobs more real than working at camp. We know you’re thinking about your future career path, and guess what? We are, too! Through camp, you gain experience in a legitimate workplace, and learn skills that will help you in a professional environment. Camp work looks great on a resumé. Many employers are eager to hire our summer staff.

Many schools offer students credit for their roles at Somerset Beach. Be sure to check with your advisor to see if that might be a possibility.

Will I get paid?

Yes! Pay varies by department and experience level. Along with a paycheck, you’ll get your meals and housing provided all summer, along with free access to recreation on your time off.

Staff get one day off per week. Sometimes more, depending on the department they work in. You can still live in your camp housing and eat meals at camp on your day off.

Plus, we participate in a matching scholarship with a few universities (the dollar amount varies). Currently the partnering universities are: Spring Arbor University, Greenville University, and Anderson University.

Is housing and meals provided?

Yes, absolutely. We have a bed ready for your rest and you'll always have a seat at our table, even on your day off!

Do I have to commit to the whole summer?

Yes, we'd love to have you for the whole summer! We totally get juggling schedules can be tricky, so if your calendar is packed as a s'more, just talk to us.

I have more questions, who do I contact?

Email us with any additional questions.
