At Somerset Beach Campground & Retreat Center, we’ve been creating space for connection, rest, and spiritual renewal since 1982. Nestled on 226 acres in Somerset Center, Michigan, our mission continues to grow — and so does our vision for the future. Below, explore the exciting capital improvement projects we're pursuing to better serve individuals, families, and ministry groups for years to come.
Urgent Need
Dining Hall, Chapel, & Event Space
As we grow in increased attendance at summer camps, retreats, and family events, we need to provide a more flexible and larger gathering space to support the growing numbers of campers, programs, and events to enhance the guest experience and ministry impact.

Urgent Need
Mission Lake Repairs
Mission Lake has been slowly leaking for the last 15+ years. The water level continues to drop, and eventually our leaking relief valve will give out. We have a local company that will install the new valve, which can ensure us many years of extended life for Mission Lake.

Improved Signage
As we create new roadways into SBC and help guests navigate new areas, we need to put up more directional signage. This will help guests to feel welcomed and knowledgeable about where they are headed throughout their stay.

Youth Housing
New youth lodging is needed to accommodate growing attendance, improve camper experience, and provide camper-focused housing that supports the ministry and impact of life transforming experiences for youth.

Full Hookups for RV Sites
Full Hookup campsites are needed to meet camper expectations, attract a broader range of guests, increase occupancy, and ensure the campground remains competitive and sustainable by providing full hookups of water, sewer, and electric at multiple sites throughout the campground.

Urgent Need for Facilities
Heat Exchanger
Our Field house HVAC system is almost 30 years old. It is at the end of its life cycle. We have one heat exchanger that is out and one that needs to be replaced by the fall if we want to heat the field house this winter.

Urgent Need for Facilities
Backhoe
Our current backhoe is inoperable, and repairs are not feasible. Due to the number of projects required to maintain the camp, a backhoe is a necessary tool for the day-to-day operations of the camp and RV park.

Urgent Need for Guest Services
Golf Carts
Many of our golf carts require significant repair to improve safety and operations, support accessibility, and provide a better experience for guests and staff across a large and active property

Urgent Need for Food Service
Stove/Grill
A commercial griddle stove is needed to increase kitchen efficiency and meal production capacity, and ensure consistent high-quality food service for large groups in short time frames at Somerset Beach Campground.

Urgent Need for Custodial
Floor Scrubber for Gym Floor
To ensure guest groups have an optimal gym experience, a new gym floor scrubber is needed to maintain camp activities, sports and recreation, large group events, and rainy day programs. This will maintain proper cleanliness and longevity of
the facility while improving the maintenance of a high-traffic activity space.

POS System for Trading Post
Due to storm damage over the years, repairs and upgrades are needed in the fiber lines to create a vibrant point of sale location for food, snacks, and activity rentals at the trading post location

Three Point Road Grader
Our grader has undergone numerous repairs overtime, including repeated welding. As a result, the metal has been weakened by heat exposure, causing it to warp and preventing the equipment from maintaining proper alignment and
performance.

Back Pack Vacuum
Backpack vacuums allow custodial staff to maintain hospitality and service in multiple locations on the property at the same time.

Help Build an Outdoor Amphitheatre
Imagine worship under the open sky, skits and songs echoing across the hillside, and campers gathered together to encounter God in a powerful way. That’s the vision for our new amphitheatre at Somerset Beach Campground.
This outdoor venue will become a central hub for:
- Youth camps and evening worship
- Bible teaching and faith formation
- Music, drama, and powerful testimonies
- Large group gatherings and summer programming

Expanded Welcome Center & Camp Store
We’re growing — and so is our vision! We're raising funds to expand our Welcome Center and Camp Store into a vibrant hub for connection and hospitality.
The expanded space will offer:

- A comfortable spot to relax, recharge, and meet new friends
- A welcoming environment for conversations and community
